Pawar urged to provide spl package to dead farmers' families

Chandigarh, Mar 17 (UNI) A delegation of Parliamentarians from Punjab, led by Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) secretary general Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa and BJP state president Avinash Rai Khanna, met Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar in Delhi and protested over the "step motherly" treatment being meted out to farmers of the state.

According to a SAD press release issued here, the delegation urged Mr Pawar to provide a special package to families of those farmers who committed suicide, as is being done in the case of farmers of Maharashtra, Andhra Pardesh and Tamil Nadu.

The other MPs who joined the delegation were Rattan Singh Ajnala, Paramjit Kaur Gulshan, Sharanjit Singh Dhillon and Sukhdev Singh Libra, the release added.
