Pandemonium in assembly over book on Rajiv Gandhi

Jaipur, Mar 17 (UNI) Pandemonium ensued in the Rajasthan Vidhan Sabha today as the opposition Congress protested over a book which allegedly contains objectionable comments against late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.

The book, 'Jeevan ki Sacchiyan', describes Rajiv Gandhi ''as a person who went against the state and also says he was politically immature''.

During Zero Hour, Congress legislator Saiyam Lodha demanded that the book should be seized and banned.

Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria said the government is prepared to do so provided somebody must file the case against publisher and the author, to which Congress legislator Pradyuman Singh said the state government should itself file the case.

However, Education Minister Ghyanshyam Tiwari said this book was bought by the Nehru Youth Centre from Rajaram Mohan Ray Foundation and thestate education department has no hand in it.

The Nehru Youth Centre was responsible for the purchase of the book and since it is under the Centre, the state government cannot take any action against the same, he added.

Mr Kataria, while asking the agitated Congress members to remain calm, said the state government would certainly take action but asked why the opposition members as rto why they were not ready to file a case.
