Notification issued for second phase of poll in Asom

Guwahati, Mar 17 (UNI) The Asom government today issued notification for the second phase of polls to be held in 61 constituencies on April 10.

The last date for filing nominations for the second phase is March 24 and withdrawal is March 27.

The constituencies are Haflong (ST), Bokajan (ST), Howraghat (ST), Diphu (ST),Baithalango (ST), Mancachar, Salmara South, Bhuburi,Gauripur, Golokganj,Bilasipara West, Bilasipara East, Gossaigaon,Kokrajhar West (ST), Kokrajhar East (ST), Sidli (ST), Bongaigaon, Bijni, Abhayapuri North, Abhayapuri South, Goalpara,Dudhnai (ST), Goalpara East, Goalpara West, Jaleswar, Barpeta, Sorbhog, Bhabanipur, Patacharkuchi, Barpeta, Jania, Baghbar, Sarukhetri, Chenga, Tamulpur, Nalbari, Barkhetry,Dharmapur,Barama (ST), Chapaguri (ST), Panery,Udalguri (ST), Majbat, Darrang,Kalaigaon, Sipajhar, Mangaldoi (SC), Dalgaon, Dhekiajuli, Barchalla, Tezpur, Rangapara, Sootea, Biswanath, Behali, Gohpur, Raha (SC), Dhing, Batadroba, Rupohihat, Nowgong, Barhampur, Samaguri and Kaliabor.

Meanwhile, today was the last date for filing nominations for the first phase where 65 constituencies would go to the polls.

Filing of nominations for the first phase had opened on March 10.

Voting will take place in the two phases of elections on April 3 and April 10 respectively.

Counting of votes is slated for May 11.
