Notice to MCD on conversion of library to a community hall

New Delhi, Mar 17 (UNI) The Delhi High Court today issued notice to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi(MCD) on the petition of an advocate challenging the decision of the authorities to convert a library-cum-recreation hall in the residential area to a community hall.

A division bench of Justice Vijender Jain and Justice S N Agrawal asked the MCD Commissioner and Joint Director (Community Hall) to explain the reasons to convert the library-cum-recreation hall to a community hall in Mayur Vihar area in East Delhi.

Advocate Biraja Mahapatra in his petition alleged that the MCD had deliberately decided to convert the hall to a community hall despite protests from the local residents.

The conversion of the hall to a community center is also against the orders of the High Court pronounced on July 18, 2003 and February 17, 2006.
