Nitish, Modi file nominations for council

Patna, Mar 17 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi today filed their nomination papers for elections to the Bihar Legislative Council.

Acting secretary to state assembly cum returning officer Brajkishore Singh Prabhat said that Mr Kumar and Mr Modi filed their papers for the state legislative council.

Today is the last day for filing of nomination papers.

Scrutiny will be done tomorrow, while the names can be withdrawn by 1500 hrs of March 20. Polling for the council seats would be held on March 29, if necessary.

Others who filed their nominations for the council seats during the day included state agriculture minister Narendra Singh, Congress leader Chandan Bagchi and former state BJP president Tarakant Jha.
