Naxalites ambush police vehicle, kill two policemen

Ranchi, Mar 17 (UNI) Two Jharkhand Armed Police jawans were killed and another was seriously injured when Naxalites today blew up their vehicle by blasting a landmine.

They also torched a private bus and blew up a road bridge in Palamu district, police said.

The extremists first torched the private bus after ordering out the passengers near Herhanj-Kori-Mati area in the district. The bus, coming from Daltanganj, was headed for Ranchi via Panki. Later they blew up the road bridge on Panki-Balumath road.

When police rushed to the spot after receiving information the rebels blew up their vehicle by triggering a landmine in which two JAP jawans were killed on the spot. Another was critically injured and shifted to the hospital, police said.

Senior civil and police officials rushed to the spot with additional forces and launched a combing operation.

The ultras also blew up a school building at Palma in Dhanbad district last night. However, no one was injured in the explosion.

Earlier, on Wednesday they blew up an Adivasi students hostel which was undergoing repair work in the same area.
