Narendra seeks BJP's support for Telangana

Hyderabad, Mar 16 (UNI) TRS leader and Union Minister of State for Rural Development A Narendra today stepped into the BJP office here for the first time after he left the party five years ago to join the Telangana movement.

Seeking support of the BJP in the Parliament for the formation of the Telangana state, he held talks with Party State President N Indrasena Reddy and General Secretary Dr K Lakshman for over an hour.

According to sources, the TRS was trying to get BJP President Rajnath Singh issue a statement favouring formation of Telangana as the party was for smaller states, during his forthcoming visit to Hyderabad. Narendra's visit to the party office was seen as part of the effort.

Narendra, a hardcore BJP man with RSS background left the party and established his own party Telangana Sadhana Samiti (TSS) for achieving separate Telangana state. Later, he merged his party with the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS), launched by K Chandrasekhara Rao. Narendra emerged as the second in command in the TRS.

Meanwhile, BJP National Secretary Bandaru Dattatreya today made a scathing attack on the TRS supremo and Union Labour Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao stating that he had no commitment towards Telangana.
