Vijayawada, Mar 17: Students of Masters of Physiotherapy (MPT), who were on fast since March nine, in protest against the alleged lapses in evaluation of their second year examination papers, have called off their fast.

The students ended their fast last evening after the Vice Chancellor of N T R University of Health Sciences, R Sambasiva Rao, agreed to conduct re-verification of their answer scripts.

Reevaluation would be held on March 20 and results will be announced on March 23, Mr Rao informed.

The students said that though they were toppers in the first year, they failed in the second year due to irregularities in evaluation.

Out of 63 students appearing for the examination, only 14 had passed, and that too, with grace marks, they added.
