MoU signed to modernise Sikkim Jewels

Gangtok, Mar 17 (UNI) The Sikkim government today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a Switzerland company for the upgradation and modernisation of the state-owned Sikkim Jewels.

According to an official release here, state Finance Secreary TT Dorjee signed the MoU with Mr Alain Gasser, Chairman Ravussin at Interlake city, Switzerland in the presence of Chief Minister Pawan Chamling.

The Chief Minister along with a host of officials is a tour of the European countries.

Earlier, addressing a gathering of dignitaries and officials at Canton of Valais, Mr Chamling sought the advice of experts on how to attract friendly and targeted investors to Sikkim.

He proposed for an intercity partnership of Sikkim with Canton of Valais to exchange ideas, knowledge and to establish people to people contact.

Addressing a meeting at the Institute of Federalism, University ofFribourg at Berne, the Chief Minister sought the opinion of experts on issues like developing capacities of villages and district functionaries.

He also invited the academics of Institute of Federalism and the University of Fribourge to Sikkim to explore the possibilities of launching a joint collaborative project among the academics and policy makers of Sikkim and the institute.
