Manipur Assembly passes four bills
Imphal, Mar 17: The Manipur Assembly today (Mar 17, 2006) unanimously passed four bills introduced by Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh.
The bills dealt with salaries and allowances of ministers, salaries of Speaker and Deputy Speaker, salary of Chairman of Hill Areas Committee and salary of Deputy Chairman, state planning board.
During the zero hour today, I Hemochandra said the police personnel in the state did not receive uniforms for the last 20 years and urged the Chief Minister to look into the matter.
Mr Chandra said no one knew under which police station his constituency, Andro falls. ''There is no police station to look after it,'' he said and requested the Chief Minister, who holds the home portfolio to solve the problem.
L Ibomcha raised the matter of non-availability of sugar at the godowns of the civil supplies department and alleged that sugar was supplied by officials to businessmen at higher prices.
Mr Ibomcha also raised the matter of the imbroglio regarding the Bisnupriya community settled in other states.
Replying to a question raised by S Natum, Mr Singh said there was no policy to help anyone injured during bandh or blockades called by any organisation.
