Mah govt promises CID inquiry into 17 lakh EGS scam
Mumbai, Mar 17 (UNI) The Maharashtra government today promised the Legislative Council that it will conduct a CID inquiry into the alleged misappropriation of Rs 17 lakh under a construction work being carried out in the name of Employment Gurantee Scheme (EGS) in Thane district.
Replying to a question by Mr Vinod Tawade (BJP) and others, Minister of State for EGS Rana Jagjitsingh Patil accepted that misappropriation of funds had taken place and added that disciplinary action would be taken against the then Assistant Engineer and Section Engineer.
Blasted the government for the scam. the opposition members alleged that bogus names had been entered in the muster roll for construction workers for the work under ECS.
Mr Tawade alleged that the roll contained names of handicapped persons and even those who died.
