Lok Sabha passes Appropriation Bill
New Delhi, Mar 17 (UNI) The Lok Sabha today passed by a voice vote the Appropriation Bill, 2006, totalling Rs 17,286,96.55 crores enabling the government to withdraw this amount from the Consolidated Fund of India for the services to be rendered by it for the year 2006-07.
The Bill was moved by Finance Minister P Chidambaram and put to vote. The House adopted the Bill.
The passage of the Bill is regarded as the Second stage of the Budget.
Earlier, Mr Chidambaram moved the Demands for Grants for various Ministries relating to Budget (General) 2006-07. Guillotine was applied and the Demands for Grants were voted.
The relevant Bills are titled Appropriation (No 3) Bill, 2006.
