J D (U) plenary rescheduled for April 11 and 12 at Patna
New Delhi, Mar 17 (UNI) The plenary of the Janata Dal (United) has been rescheduled to be held on April 11 and 12 and will now take place at Patna instead of Rajgir, party Spokesman Shambhu Srivastava said.
Making the announcement, the party Spokesman said the election for the party president will be held on the opening day, if there is a contest. The plenary will pass resolutions on political, economic and international affairs and welcome the Panchayat Raj reforms in Bihar, introduced by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, which accords 50 per cent seats reservation for women across the board in all the categories.
The party will felicitate Mr Kumar for having liberated the state from the clutches of the Lalu-Rabri regime, he said.
About the choice of the party nominees for Bihar Legislative Council and Rajya Sabha, Dr Srivastava said the party had authorised Mr Kumar to choose the candaditures and he had taken a decision after consultation. "There is no problem in the party on this count", he said.
Asked about the party's stand in Karnataka where the party has five MLAs, he said the party will generally go with the NDA but if there are any problem, the party will discuss and take a decision.
