Chennai, Mar 17 (UNI) - Tamil Nadu pacer Laxmipathi Balaji is looking forward to doing what he is best at: hurling the red cherry at rival batsmen.

Balaji, who returned here after further treatment under Dr John Grahnam in Melbourne for stress fracture of his lower back, told UNI, ''I will be putting myself back in action from May.'' Balaji said the doctors treating him along with Dr Grahnam in Melbourne had asked him to ''tread cautiously''. However, he has not been recommended any special training methods to get himself back in full shape.

''Hopefully I will be able to bowl at full steam from the second week of May'', he said.

Balaji said he would make himself available to play for India A team first. Thereafter he hopes to be back in Team India, he added.

''It is really frustrating to nurse an injury. But, this time I will be careful,'' the 24 year-old wily medium pacer averred.

Asked how tough, in his own assessment, would it be for him to get back into the senior squad with the emergence of more talents like Munaf Patel, Balaji said, ''It's all about my own performance.'' ''There is always competition. My job is to take wickets.'' He said but for successfully facing tough competition, he wouldn't have made it to the senior team, in the first place.

Balaji, it may be recalled, has claimed 27 wickets in eight Test matches with 5-76 against Pakistan in the 2004 series there as his best.

In 27 ODIs, Balaji has taken 34 wickets.
