INTUC hails RS Nomination for INTUC president Sanjiva Reddy

New Delhi, Mar 17 (UNI) The Indian National Trade Union Congress has welcomed the Congress' decision to nominate INTUC president G Sanjiva Reddy for the Rajya Sabha from Andhra Pradesh.

Expressing pleasure over his selection as Congress candidate for the biennial election to the Rajya Sabha from the state, INTUC vice president Ashok Singh said the nomination for Dr Reddy recognised the outstanding and meritorious services has rendered over 56 years and during his 14 year tenure as head of the labour organisation.

Dr Reddy joined the labour movement in 1948 and since then he has been working as a crusader for the cause of the working community in India and abroad, Mr Singh said.

Mr Reddy is also the vice-president of the international confederation of free trade unions for 18 years during which capacity he unified the international labour bodies to strengthen the international labour movement facing challenges due to globalisation.
