Holi reveller shot dead

Allahabad, Mar 17 (UNI) Tension prevailed in Colonelganj area here after a Holi reveller was allegedly shot dead by a youth belonging to the minority community.

Police today said Jal Sansthan employee Surendra Bhartiya was dancing with his group of friends, when he unwittingly fell on a youth of the minority community.

An altercation soon snowballed into a clash between the two communities.

In the melee, Maqsood shot at Bhartiya with his unlicensed firearm grievously wounding him. He succumbed at hospital.

However The accused managed to escape.

Later, a large contingent of police and PAC jawans were deployed at the spot in wake of communal tension.

Meanwhile, two persons received bullet wounds when two groups clashed over a minor issue in the same area.
