Guj fishermen to get 'Smart Card'

Gandhinagar, Mar 17 (UNI) Gujarat Fishery Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasma today informed Gujarat Legislative Assembly that the State government has decided to provide 'Smart Card' to the fishermen.

The 'Smart Card' would be provided to nearly 100,000 fishermen in the State at a cost of Rs 3.5 crore. The scheme would be completed in 24 months.

The Minister was replying to a question raised by ruling BJP MLA Ramesh Patel during the question hour session of the House.

In reply to an another question, Mr Chudasma said the State government has spent over Rs 40 lakh in the fishermen housing scheme till January in the present financial year.

Under the scheme, each fishermen family will get an assistance of Rs 40,000 for building their house, the Minister added.
