Govt aware on illegal ILP issued by outfits

Kohima, Mar 17 (UNI) Nagaland Legislative Assembly today witnessed a hot debate on the issuance of Inner Line Permit (ILP) by some underground outfits and students organisations.

Nagaland Home Minister Mr Thenucho told the house that the state government was aware of the matter.

Replying to a question of the leader of Opposition I.Imkong during the second day of the ongoing budget session, Mr Thenucho said the issue was referred to the Ceasefire Monitoring Group as it was related to the ceasefire ground rules and also asked the district police administration to inquire into the matter.

The Home Minister further said there was nothing new in issuing ILP as it was being done since its inception.

Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio intervened and said the state Government was the sole authority to issue ILP to the non-locals in the state and no individual or organisations can do so.

He informed the hosue that the matter has already been referred to the Ceasefire Monitoring Group, the central agency to monitor the implementation of the agreed ceasefire ground rules.
