Gold glitters on firm global advice, silver dips

Mumbai, Mar 17 (UNI) Gold value closed higher at Rs 8,060 per ten gm with modest gains of Rs 20 from the previous day's close due to strong advice from global markets, traders at the bullion market here said.

Silver rates, however, eased by Rs 20 to Rs 14,470 per kg at the closing session, on poor demand by local dealers, traders added.

Following were the closing rates of spot silver and gold: Silver (per kg) .999 fineness grade: Rs 14,470 (14,490), Gold (per 10 gm): Gold 99.5 purity standard mint : Rs 8,020 (7,990), Gold 99.9 purity pure gold : Rs 8,060 (8,040).
