Four Jaish militants killed, hideout busted in J and K

Srinagar, Mar 17 (UNI) Security forces gunned down four militants of Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and busted two hideouts while an abortive bid was made by ultras to kill a family in the Jammu and Kashmir overnight, official sources said.

They said security forces and police launched a joint operation at Chhatroo in Rajouri district of Jammu region today to nab militants. However, when the security forces were sealing the area, militants opened fire on them and also hurled grenades. The security forces returned fire, killing four JeM militants. Four Ak rifle, 15 magazines, 124 rounds of ammunition, six hand grenades, three wireless sets, a mobile phone and a satellite phone were recovered from the slain militants.

Official sources said militants today hurled a hand grenade on the house of one Aijaz Ahmad Masoodi at Model Town Sopore.

However, the grenade did not explode after it fell in a room.

The family members rushed out of the house and informed the police. Later' the Bomb Disposal Squad was summoned and defuse the grenade, sources said.

Security forces busted a hideout and recovered one IED and two UBGL grenades at Doda last night. However, no one was arrested.
