England plan five-pronged attack in third Test
Mumbai, Mar 17 (UNI) England coach Duncan Fletcher today said they have kept open the option of playing two spinners when they clash with India in the third and final Test beginning here tomorow.
England are 1-0 down in the series and need to win the third Test to square the series.
Fletcher told reporters here that they could go in with five bowlers. He, however, refused to divulge the playing eleven, saying that they would announce the team tomorrow.
The Zimbabwe-born England coach said the strategy behind going in with a five-pronged bowling attack was to give some breathing space to captain Andrew Flintoff and reduce his workload as a bowler.
Meanwhile, Fletcher admitted that the loss of five key players, including Steve Harmison, for the final Test has handicapped the team. ''However, these things happen and the team needs to look ahead instead of ruing over the loss of key players,'' he said.
