Dredging of Dal straits

Jammu, Mar 17 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir government has started dredging operation in Dal lake, from Nishat to Habak on Dal lake side.

Minister for Housing and Urban Development Tariq Hamid Karra informed the Legislative Assembly today that 20 lac cum of land mass containing 170 tones of phosphorus and 281 tones of nitrogen has been removed from the lake.

He said the activity has increased transparency of water in the lake by 40 per cent, reduced nutrient build upto 30 per cent and also reduced cod values by 10 per cent.
