Dravid, Kumble feted for personal landmarks by BoB, CCI

Mumbai, Mar 17 (UNI) India's captain Rahul Darvid who will be completing 100 Tests when he leads the team out in the third Test beginning here tomorrow was felicitated jointly by the Bank of Baroda, and the Cricket Club of India here.

Along with Dravid, Anil Kumble was also honoured last evening for being the first Indian to reach the landmark of 500 Test wickets.

Both these senior Indian pros were given a plaque and a shawl.

Dravid in his acceptance speech said ''it was a special occasion for me and not just because it is my 100th Test, but because it has given me time to look back and reflect on my carrer beginning from my debut in England in 1996.'' ''It also gives me a chance to think about people who have helped me achieve what ever little I have done. Right from my parents, family members, first coach late Keki Tarapore and several other coaches as well as team members.'' ''On this occasion I also have to thank the captains under whom I have played in Test cricket - Mohammed Azhruddin, Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly, as well as Anil Kumble, who captained me when I played for Karnataka,'' Dravid added.

Others who spoke on the occasion were 500 wicket man Anil Kumble, former Indian captains Bishen Singh Bedi and Sunil Gavaskar, CCI president Rajsingh Dungarpur and the chief guest of the function former Maharashtra Governor P C Alexander.
