DMK to resume interview of candidates on March 21

Chennai, Mar 17 (UNI) The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), heading the Democratic Progressive Alliance (DPA), today announced that interview of candidates who had sought the party ticket for the May eight assembly elections, would resume on March 21.

The party, which had suspended the interview sessions last week, pending finalisation of the process of identifying the constituencies to its allies, said the interviews would be held between March 21 and 24.

This implies that the DMK would complete the process of identifying the constituencies to the allies by this week end as party General Secretary K Anbazhagan said only those who had applied for ticket in the constituencies to be contested by the party should appear for the interview.

The party had allotted 48 seats to the Congress, 31 to the Pattali Makkal Katchi(PMK), 13 to the Communist Party of India (Marxist), ten to CPI and three to Indian Union Muslim League (IUML).

Releasing the week-long district-wise schedule for the interview, DMK General Secretary K Anabazhagan in a statement here said that from March 21 to 24, the party proposed to cover 24 districts.

Candidates from Pondicherry have been invited to appear for interview on the evening of March 24.

They should refrain from bringing their supporters and those who recommend their candidature to the interview, Mr Anbazhagan added.
