DA of industrial workers hiked in UP

Kanpur, March 17 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh government has hiked the Dearness Allowance for workers in rubber, plastic, food processing readymade garments, construction, handloom, powerloom and other industrial units by Rs 90 per month with effect from February 1, 2006 for the next six months.

State labour department sources said here today, the workers employed in dharmshalas, private libraries, woodcarving, furniture, tobacco manufacturing, handloom and powerlooms, would be entitled to get Rs 1,548 per month as DA from February 1, 2006 to July 31, 2006 as against earlier rate of Rs 1458 which was paid till January 31, 2006.

The release further said that the workers in rubber products rubber manufacturing (including tyre tubes), plastic units, confectioneries, aerated drinks, fruit juice factories, plywood, petrol and diesel oil pumps, milk diaries, private clinics, private medical shops, readymade garments units, dam and maintainance, and construction of embankments, foundary, metal, tin plate shaping and tin printing, engineering industries, employing less than fifty workers and all registered factories (not mentioned before) with effect from February 1, 2006 till July 31, 2006, will get dearness allowance of Rs 1,125 per month against Rs 1034 earlier.

The Dearness Allowance is over and above the minimum rates of wages already payable to the workers, sources added.
