Cycling-Australia's Bates wins points race gold
MELBOURNE, Mar 17 (Reuters) Australia's Katherine Bates retained her Commonwealth Games points race title at the Melbourne Park velodrome today.
She took gold after winning six of the 10 sprints to collect 30 points over the 25km course.
Aussie team mate Rochelle Gilmore finished second on 21 points to emulate her silver from the 2002 Games in Manchester.
The bronze medal went to Scotland's Kate Cullen, who compiled 13 points.
