College girl, SI die in accidents

Chennai, Mar 17 (UNI) A first year B Com student and a police sub- inspector were killed in two different road accidents here today.

Ramya (18), studying in Ethiraj College, was returning home in a two-wheeler after dropping her ailing father in a hospital at Egmore, when she was knocked down by a truck.

Police said Ramya was run over by the truck and died on the spot.

In the other incident, Mr Sivaprakasam (51), Sub-Inspector of Police attached to Madhavaram Police station, was killed when the two-wheeler he was riding hit a cow near the Airport.

The policeman, who suffered serious injuries after he was thrown out of the vehicle, was rushed to a private hospital, where he succumbed to the injuries, police said.
