CM appoints DCP to probe 'political hand' in Ghansoli violence
Mumbai, Mar 17 (UNI) Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil today announced a Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) level inquiry to ascertain if there was any 'political hand' in the violence at Ghansoli in the satellite township of Navi Mumbai, which has witnessed the deaths of three persons--two in police firing and one in group clashes.
Replying to a discussion on the Navi Mumbai riots, Mr Patil, who also holds the Home portfolio, also announced that a new police station would be set up at Ghansoli.
Shiv Sena BJP members alleged that the incident had 'political colour' as two leaders of the ruling party are trying to maintain their dominance.
Describing the incident as unfortunate, Mr Patil said he would try for a meeting between the two groups tomorrow to sort out the matter.
Diwakar Raote and Anant Tare (Sena), Madhu Chavan (BJP) and others participated in the discussion.
