BJP, UPA candidates file nomination

Ranchi, Mar 17 (UNI) Congress candidate Mabel Rebello today filed his nomination papers for the Rajya Sabha elections from the state.

BJP candidate S S Ahluwalia had filed his nomination papers yesterday.

The election to the two seats was necessitated following expiry of the term of Congress candidate R K Anand and Mr Ahluwalia.

Returning Officer and Jharkhand Assembly Secretary Sitaram Shahni said today was the last date for filing nominations. Scrutiny would be held tomorrow. The last date of withdrawal is March 20.

He said after the expiry date of withdrawal, both the candidates would be officialy declared elected unopposed.
