Panaji, Mar 17 (UNI) Alleging total collapse of administrative machinery on all fronts in Goa, the BJP legislature party today denounced failure of the Congress-led coalition Government in checking anti-social elements engaged in vandalising churches and religious symbols.

Briefing mediapersons after the legislature party meeting, Leader of the Opposition Manohar Parrikar said the party, in the coming five-day budget session of the State Legislative Assembly beginning on March 20, would highlight the Government's failure to handle the situation.

''The objective behind the spate of attacks on churches and chapels is to create a fear psychosis and feeling of insecurity among the minority community at the behest of the ruling Congress, to preempt BJP prospects in the assembly elections next year,'' Mr Parrikar alleged.

Demanding a thorough probe into acts of vandalism, he urged the police to improve night patrolling to keep the anti-social elements at bay.

He said, the party has also taken serious exception to the inefficiency of police in protecting the life and property of people in Saleilim where a landlord's son was killed, and Curchorem which witnessed large-scale violence, vandalism and arson against minorities recently.

He further questioned the sagacity of the administration in not yet apprehending the landlord who rented out the house to suspected terrorist - Tariq Ahmed, now in police custody since last week.
