Balance human and natural resources

Pondicherry, Mar 17 (UNI) Madras High Court Judge Justice Mr S Tamilvanan, today called for a balance between human and natural resources.

Delivering the Key-note address at an international conference on " Land law and natural resources management- comparative perspectives" here today, Mr Tamilvanan said protecting enviornment from disaster was the task now. Every year 100 million people are added to the population, while the resources remain the same.

There should be a balance between human and natural resources and any decrease in resources would lead to drastic results, he added.

Mr Tamilvanan who also called for an integrated use of lands through proper planning to strike a balance said that enviornmental education was the need of the hour.Indian judiciary has done enough to safeguard the enviornment, he added.

Speaking on the occasion Mr A Anbarasu, secretary to the government said water was presently the dwindling resource trigerring confrontation between nations and states.
