AP Police security cover for ONGC drilling sites at KG basin

Hyderabad, Mar 17 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Police will provide security cover for all drilling sites of ONGC in Krishna-Godavari (KG) Basin.

An official release here today said the assurance was given by Director General of Police (DGP) Swaranjit Sen during a high-level meeting of the state police with ONGC officials.

During the meeting, ONGC Executive Director BC Nayak gave a briefing on the initiatives taken by the company at its various on and off shore sites in the KG basin.

The Corporation had spent a whopping Rs 252 crore on infrastructure during the last five years, Mr Nayak disclosed.

The ONGC officials emphasised on the need for providing more security cover at their drilling sites in the KG basin in the wake of increasing threat perception.

Mr Sen assured them of all assistance and cooperation in providing the security cover. He explained the state government's commitment to strengthen the coastal policing to check infiltration of anti-social and anti-national elements through sea routes.

The Special Protection Force will also be further strengthened by conducting fresh recruitment.Central and State intelligence officials also took part in the meeting.
