2 RPF jawans shot dead in Vadodara
Vadodara, Mar 16 (UNI) Two jawans of the Vadodara Railway Protection Force (RPF) were shot dead by some unidentified miscreants at Bajwa here today.
Talking to UNI, Vadodara Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) K L Pandey said the duo were reportedly spread with bullets while coming from the Bajwa post to the Vadodara railway station to join their night duties.
City police commissioner Deepak Swaroop, who rushed to the spot, said, ''It seems to be the handiwork of some mafias, who are active in the area and indulging in various criminal activities, including theft of railway properties. This is the third murderous attack on the RPF jawans in the last one year.'' The police chief said the two jawans were found dead on the road at around 2000 hrs with multiple bullet injuries. the police had also found some weapons from the spot.
All senior railway officials, including senior divisional security commissioner Atul Srivastava, had rushed to the spot.
According to preliminary investigation report, the jawans fell prey to indiscriminate firing by some unidentified scooter-borne armed miscreants. The deceased were removed to the SSG hospital for post-mortem.
Sources said all police stations in the state had been alerted and a massive manhunt was launched in the entire Channi police station area to nab the culprits.
