Wipro Infotech to expand, increase headcount

Mysore, Mar 16 (UNI) Wipro Infotech, a division of the 1.9 billion US Dollar Wipro group, intended to expand its base not only in Bangalore, but also other parts of the country, besides increasing its headcount to 400 from the present 120, its President Suresh Vaswani informed today.

Speaking to newspersons after launching Wipro Infotech's Global Service Management Centre here, he declined to comment on Wipro seeking 100 acres of land on the outskirts of the city, but said the GSMC centre would soon expand.

Mr Vaswani said more than 70 per cent of the engineers working in the Mysore centre were localites. The centre was set up on a five-acre land, earlier used to manufacture Wipro Printers.

He said Wipro Infotech provided enterprise customers with high value IT products, services, solutions and consulting services in the country, besides the Asia Pacific and West Asian region. Based in Bangalore, Wipro Infotech served customers in the country through a network of 22 offices and 170 service locations across the country, apart from business offices in West Asia and Asia Pacific.
