Melbourne, Mar 16 (UNI) A batting great in the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) may sound a routine affair but legendary West Indian Sir Vivian Richards is here for reasons that have nothing to do with the game of bat and ball.

The charismatic former captain was first sighted yesterday and later it was learnt that Richards is here as the ambassador for the Antigua and Barbuda Commonwealth Games team.

He was among the VIPs who were supposed to sit next to the Queen during yesterday's Opening Ceremony.

Apart from Richards, fellow West Indian cricketer Desmond Haynes was also seen travelling down river Yarra.
