Sanjiva Reddy to highlight the plight of poor and workers in RS
Hyderabad, Mar 16 (UNI) Senior trade unionists and INTUC President G Sanjiva Reddy today said he would highlight the plight of the working class and the poor in the Rajya Sabha.
Expressing pleasure over his selection as Congress candidate in the bienniel election to the Rajya Sabha from the state and recognising his services for the past more than 50 years, he said he met Congress president Ms Sonia Gandhi, explained his background to her and urged for the seat.
Sanjiva Reddy was elected to the state assembly twice between 1965 and 1978. He worked as Labour Minister in the cabinet of Kasu Brahmananda Reddy.
Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee President K Keshava Rao whose name was also finalised for the Rajya Sabha biennial elections,was accorded a rousing reception at the Hyderabad airport when he returned from New Delhi after consultations with the Congress High Command.
A large number of Congress workers turned out at the airport and raised slogans hailing Keshava Rao. Senior Congress leader and former legislator D Nagender came to the airport with his supporters and congratulated the PCC chief.
