Praful Patel has over Rs 7 cr in kitty, but no car
Mumbai, Mar 16 (UNI) Even as Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel has over Rs seven crore bank balance, he does not own a car, according to an affidavit filed by him alongwith his nomination papers for the biennial election to Rajya Sabha from Maharashtra.
However, Union Power Minister Sushilkumar Shinde has a Fiat car to his name, as per his affidavit submitted before the returning officer at Vidhan Bhawan today.
While Mr Patel and his family, including wife Varsha and children have assets worth Rs 17 crore in their name, ironically neither of them owns a vehicle nor any motor vehicle is there in the name of any of the partnership firms and companies with which the Minister is associated.
Senior BJP leader Bal Apte, who also filed his nominations today, has two four-wheelers, including an Indigo GLX of 2004 make and a NE 118 of 1995 make, while a Tata Indica and a motorcycle is registered in the name of NCP nominee Vasant Chavan's wife.
Mr Patel, who has been re-nominated by NCP to the Upper House of Parliament, has Rs 7,51,96,671 in terms of cash, deposits in banks, financial institutions and non-banking financial companies, bonds, debentures and shares in companies, other financial instruments, NSS, postal savings and LIC policies, jewellery and other assets.
His wife has Rs 3,43,02,256, minor son Prajay has Rs 2,93,68,450 in his name, while daughters Avni, Niyati and Poorna have Rs 2,09,94,719, Rs 1,48,61,905 and Rs 1,58,86,945, respectively, in their names.
