Police officer suspended

Hyderabad, Mar 16 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh government today ordered suspension of a police inspector following the demand by the Opposition, protesting against the alleged attack by the police on Holi revellers in the Osmania University.

Soon after the House was adjourned, the TRS activists led by their assembly floor leader Dr G Vijaya Rama Rao, Secunderabad, MLA C Padma Rao and 14 other MLAs went to Osmania University campus and staged a 'rasta roko'. The prostest came in view of the alleged high handed behaviour by Speaker Chandrasekhar on students and Telangana intellectual forum leaders during Holi celebrations yesterday.

Tension prevailed in the campus, where different students' unions gave a call for a bandh. The students of Arts, Science and Engineering colleges boycotted their classes and participated in the agitation.

The government's announcement of the suspension of the officer came as a relief to police personnel guarding the campus. They informed the TRS leaders about it, following which TRS activists and the students withdrew the agitation.
