PCI chief slams Varanasi blast, asks media for self-restraint

Lucknow, Mar 16 (UNI) Chairman of Press Council of India (PCI) Justice G N Roy today condemned the March seven blast in Varanasi, but exhorted the media to exercise self-restraint while covering such human tragedies.

In a statement here, Justice Roy said the media especially the electronic press should dither from showing the gory visuals of such human tragedies in the larger public interest.

Justice Roy also said the media needed to follow the path of balanced and objective journalism during such violent incidents.
