Panchayat officer convicted in bribery case
Hyderabad, Mar 16 (UNI) The Special Judge for Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) cases, Visakhapatnam today covicted Ms Krishnaveni, Panchayat Extention Officer of Mentada Panchayat in Vizianagaram district in a bribery case and sentenced her to undergo six months rigorous imprisonment and pay a fine of Rs 1000.
Ms Krishnaveni was arrested by the ACB officials when she accepted Rs 1000 as bribe from the complainant on July 4,1999, an ACB release said here.
Meanwhile, ACB sleuths today caught red-handed M Vidyasagar, Additional Assistant Engineer of APCPDCL Bhagyanagar section at Kukatpally in Ranga Reddy district when he accepted Rs 8,000 as bribe from the complainant.
The ACB officials had recovered the tainted amount from Mr Vidyasagar and arrested him.
In an another incident, the ACB officials arrested K Srinivasappa, Project Director of National Child Labour project, Kurnool for accepting Rs 10,000 as bribe from an NGO.
Both the accused would be produced before special judge for ACB cases, Hyderabad, another ACB release said here.
