Om Sakthi held for violation of model code

Pondicherry, Mar 16 (UNI) Police today arrested Mr Om Sakthi Sekar, who joined the AIADMK recently, on charges of violation of model code of conduct for elections.

Cases under section 279 IPC,123(A) and 171-B were registered against him and his brother-in-law Jagadeesan who was also arrested along with him.

They will be produced before the Judicial Magistrate-1 Mr Swarna Natarajan later today.

The car owned by Mr Sekar was seized by the police for reportedly distributing sarees and other welfare articles at Nellithoppe constituency yesterday.

Meanwhile, an arrest warrant was issued against Congress leader V C Kasilingam for preventing a government servant from doining his duty. Mr Kasilingam reportedly had an altercation with a traffic constable on duty yesterday when he came in a procession to submit his application at the Congress party office for the party ticket, to contest from Lawspet constituency.
