Noted economist Sompal appointed CM's advisor

Bhopal, Mar 16 (UNI) Noted economist Sompal has been appointed as Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's advisor.

Mr Sompal has been accorded the status of a cabinet minister, as per government order.

A member of the 12th Finance Commission, Mr Sompal is also Kisan Ayog Chairman. He served as member of the Planning Commission from 1999 to 2004 and Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Water Resources in 1998-99.

He was also a Rajya Sabha member for two terms.
