No of gastro patients rises to 111

Mumbai, Mar 16 (UNI) The number of gastroenteritis patients, admitted to G T hospital here, has risen to 111.

Hospital superintendent Dr H H Jadhav said that patients have been continuously coming in and their number went up to 111 by 1200 hrs today.

Out of all the patients, the condition of one is critical, he said.

However, Dr Jadhav said the death toll had not increased over two since yesterday.

An 11-yr-old boy had succumbed to the illness on Tuesday while a teenaged girl died yesterday in the hospital, he said and added that the people were suffering from gastroenteritis because of drinking contaminated water.

The patients are primarily from Crawford market, municipal Chawl, Bengalipura and Sabu Siddique road areas in A, B, and C wards of the municipal corporation in South Mumbai, which received contaminated water due to a pipeline leakage a few days back.
