Nine injured as mill workers, police clash
Ludhiana, Mar 16 (UNI) Nine people, including three police personnel, were injured during a clash between workers and police outside the Oswal Wollen Mill on the G T Road here this morning, police said.
The clash ensued when about 700 workers collected outside the mill, protesting against termination of services of some of their colleagues by the management on March 13.
Police had to resort to a lathicharge to disperse the agitating workers, who turned unruly and indulged in stone-pelting.
The movement of traffic on the GT road was disrupted for more than an hour.
Extra police force has been called to maintain law and order as tension prevailed in the area.
The injured have been admitted to hospital.
