Minor girl gagged to death after rape attempt.

Dehradun, Mar 16 (UNI) An ice cream vendor was arrested today on charges of attempting to rape a minor girl and gagging her to death.

According to Kotwali thana in-charge Mahendra Singh Negi, the accused Jiyalal (47) ,resident of Sultanpur was well known to the family of the girl. He informed that yesterday Jiyalal took the girl with him from her house. When she did not return, the parents informed the police after which the police started to hunt for Jiyalal with whom the girl was last seen. He was rounded up this morning and investigation revealed the gruesome story of alleged rape attempt and murder of Sanjana (5). The accused had admitted of attempting to rape the victim and later gagging the girl to death in fear of disclosure of his identity, he said. The body of the deceased was recovered by the police from a bush near Forest Research Institute and sent for autopsy.
