K'taka Govt asked to form Cotton Development Corp
Bangalore, Mar 16 (UNI) Leader of the Opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Council H K Patil today urged the State Government to set up a Cotton Development Corportation on the lines of the Coffee Board to boost the textile industry.
Participating in a discussion in the House on President A P J Abdul Kalam's address to the joint session of the State Legislature on the 11-point mission for the development of the State, he said the Corporation would help to better manage and coordinate with the Centre to boost cotton economy in the State.
He said the State, best suited for growing cotton, should take action on a priority basis to grow cotton as a major crop.
