Kalraj, Katiyar files nominations for Rajya Sabha polls in UP
Lucknow, Mar 16(UNI) Senior BJP leaders Kalraj Mishra and Vinay Katiyar today filed their nomination papers for the biennial Rajya Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh slated to be held on March 28.
Both the leaders submitted their nominations to returning officer and principal secretary(vidhan sabha) R P Pandey here this morning.
Mr Mishra, is the sitting Rajya Sabha member and the party has renominated him while Mr Katiyar would go to the upper house for the first time. Mr Mishra is the party in-charge of Rajasthan and Mr Katiyar is the national general secretary of BJP.
Tomorrow is the last date for filing nominations for the ten Rajya Sabha and 13 legislative council seats for the biennial polls in the state.
BSP had already nominated three candidates each for the RS and council seats while the Congress has announced to give ticket to Siraj Mehendi for the council seat.
The ruling Samajwadi Party and its alliance partner Rashtriya Lok Dal are yet to announce their candidates.
