Kalam for time-bound promotion of nano science
New Delhi, Mar 16 (UNI) President A P J Abdul Kalam today suggested the setting up of four fully equipped National Nano Fab Centres across the country as part of a five-point time-bound plan of action for the promotion of nano science in the country.
The plan of action will cover diagnosis and treatment of cancer and HIV/AIDS through the use of DNA technology and nano robots, Dr Kalam said while inaugurating an international conference on nano science and technology at the Indian Institute of Technology here.
He said there should be a dynamic research search task team with renowned scientists who could visit institutions and colleges across the country to locate research potential of individual as well as institutions.
Dr Kalam also advocated a national drug delivery platform, which could bring together the potential researchers, technologists and industries.
Another point was use of nano technology to manufacture high efficiency solar cells used in solar plants, nano sensors for multiple applications and nano filters for low cost water purification and providing safe drinking water.
