JD(U) names Rajya Sabha candidates, Nitish for state council

Patna, Mar 16 (UNI) The JD (U) today announced names of its candidates for biennial elections to Rajya Sabha while Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was nominated for state Legislative Council.

State JD(U) president Rajiv Ranjan Singh told newspersons here that Mohammed Ali Anwar, Mahendra Sahni and Mahendra Prasad have been nominated for the Rajya Sabha elections.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was authorised to nominate candidates for elections to the RS and state legislative council.

Besides Mr Kumar, state Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ramashryaya Prasad Singh, state Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh and Mr Nagmani have been nominated for the Bihar Legislative Council.

Mr Ramashrya Prasad Singh had unsuccessfully contested the last Assembly election from Makhdumpur consituency.

Mr Nagmani was a minister in the A.B. Vajpayee government.
