Honeymoon couple from Punjab found dead in Kashmir

Srinagar, Mar 16 (UNI) A honeymoon couple from Punjab were found dead in a hotel room at the world famous tourist resort of Pahalgam in south Kashmir today, police said.

They said Pankaj Kumar Jain and his wife Poornima arrived here from Ludhiana in Punjab yesterday and straightway headed for Pahalgam.

The couple checked in King's Palace hotel there and after some sight-seeing came back to their room, police added.

However, the hotel staff got suspicious in the morning as the couple did not open the door or contact the room service.

The hotel staff then contacted the local police and it was decided to break open the door.

On opening the door, the couple was found dead, police said, adding the cause of the death was believed to be ''gas leakage'' from a room heater.
